Type Locality and Naming

Distinguished in the Southwestern Darvaz by N. G. Vlasov (Vlasov, 1959; Vlasov and Miklukho-Maklai, 1959), then traced throughout the Darvaz district. The named suite and sub-suite replace each other in the lateral direction and are coeval.

Synonym: Khorezhska suite, Хориджская свита

Lithology and Thickness

It belongs to Karachatyrsky horizon. The Khorezh Fm is represented by frequently interbedded dark gray and greenish-gray claystones and clay slates containing rare layers of dark gray limestones. Thickness 0-800 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It is conformably overlain on the upper Moscovian - upper Carboniferous limestones.

Upper contact

conformably covered by Sebisurkh Fm

Regional extent

Khorezh Fm (Хориджская свита) and the lower sub-suite of Sebisurkh Fm replace each other in the lateral direction and are coeval.

Fossils

In the suite, remains of fusulinids of the Karachatyrsky horizon Schubertella aff. sphaerica Sul., Schwagerina sp., Robustoschwagerina cf. tumidiformis M.-Maclay were found.
